Great experience

Surf? At 42 I never tried it before, desided to go alone and learn it away from the traditional family holiday habits. I was expecting people to be like 'red hot chili peppers' but they were nothing of the sort. OK, so I was the oldest dude there, but everybody was open, friendly and helpful - the most decent strangers I have met in a long time. We were approx. 15 guests at any time originating from 7-9 countries, speaking English and German. A great number of people were here in a period of their lives that offered change as in new job positions, end of a college term abroad etc. Is surf a tread stone to mental change?... As a beginner I can safely say it is also a mouthwash and you get hungry and tired.

Facts: Stayed at the dorm - it was fine. Toilet facilities - somewhat old, but also brand new ones by the great terrace, overlooking the hillsides. Cleanliness - very good. Food - good. Selection and prices of drinks - good. Location - good, as close to the beach as possible. Atmosphere - very good.

This camp is well run by a young crew caring for the guests. Best season? Perhaps the place can get crowded in July and August expecting about 45 guests, but then there is always the hillsides for a run/trek/walk and a little time alone. Do u surf? - yeah! Thanks Rapture.

PS: Be aware of the risk of feeling 'post rapture surf blue', when returning home...

Everybody returns!

I've been to this place on multiple occasions, great experience both times! Good value/price ratio, SUPER-FRIENDLY AND HELPFUL STAFF! Best "camp for adults" ever: a holiday house on the beach, where you share your experience of surfing, exploring, dining, tanning with a versatile group of people. The crowd is always pretty mixed nationality-wise, and almost everybody who have ever been there returns!

In addition to the surf lessons and surf guiding (huge stack of surfboards and wetsuits available) they've got bikes and longboards for the guests to use, and they offer yoga lessons and massages if there's an interest.

Super cool people (instructors, staff and guests as well), best holiday experience ever!

Social, Relaxing & Fun Surfcamp Awaits You!

As a solo traveler this was an amazing camp to learn surfing! This was my first time traveling alone on holiday and the staff were really welcoming. You can learn surfing and also have time to explore Ericeira. The camp provides bikes and longboards so you can easily reach the town. The camp is very social and you meet people from different parts of the world so you're bound to make many connections during your stay. The camp also offers activities such as paintball (I would recommend you to try this out, it's great fun!); you won't get bored at this camp!

This was my first time surfing and I really enjoyed it. The surfing lessons were well organised and the surf instructors explained the surfing theory and were extremely encouraging and lively. They also offer tips and tricks to help develop your surfing skills which really help.

I think the best thing about this camp is that the beach is literally right on your doorstep. It's the real surfing experience! If you want to practice surfing in your own time you can just grab a board and off you go! I also had a beautiful view from my room. I shared my room with three other girls and we had a balcony that overlooked the sea which was amazing! The terrace is also spacious with lots of deck chairs and fatboy bean bags and pillows to chill out on and tan away.

Overall, I had a great experience at Rapture Surfcamp Portugal. I would highly recommend this camp to anyone who wants to learn surfing in a social and relaxing environment. Just a small tip: it can get quite cold at night so definitely bring a hoodie and trousers.

Awesome week of surf

What a great place for a week's surf vacation! The rapture surf camp offered everything you could want in a low-budget, surf-orientated holiday.

I initially went on my own with my friend's joining me after a few days and I can say for sure I was just as happy there as a solo traveller as I was when my friends arrived.

The location is fantastic, only a few hundred metres from Foz Do Lizandro beach which has surf that will cater for literally any level. There are also heaps of other amazing surf beaches dotted along the coast which you can either drive to if you rent a car or the awesome staff at the camp can drive you to.

The staff were super! Really friendly and chilled and open which made staying there as a solo traveller very easy and enjoyable. The food they cook in the evenings (mon-fri) is super healthy, home-cooked and delicious! The fridge is stoked with water, beers and snacks for super good value and if you're in the mood for a party they will open up "the bar" and rustle up some awesome cocktails 🙂

The accommodation is basic, but very clean. Typical standard of any European hostel but well maintained and cleaned daily.

The atmosphere is the highlight of the place and would suit any age from 18-50..... Everyone is there to chill, surf and enjoy themselves.

The surf coaching is really personal and not intimidating with the majority of guests being beginner level. The boards for rent are of a high standard as are the wetsuits. But if you are an intermediate or advanced surfer it's still a great base for your trip as you can rent high performance boards or store your own and can venture to any one of a number of high quality surf breaks near by.

I will definitely go back!

The only complaint I had was that they don't recycle!! Lots of plastic bottles and beer bottles going straight into the trash......! I hope they have sorted this out.....

Other than that I cannot recommend rapture surf camp Portugal highly enough 🙂

REVIEW ON MY STAY IN ERICEIRA

Hey,

this March i decided to go surfing on my own for a couple of days cause none of my friends had time to join me. Since I didnt want to rent a car and drive around by my own, I looked up some camps in the Internet. Rapture Surfcamp Portugal sounded like what i was looking for. Some mails and days later I arrived in Ericeira where I got picked up. When I arrived at the Camp I felt comfortable immediately! Not too many people there at the beginning of April but everyone was friendly, welcoming and the sea was just in front of the house. Allthough waves were not great at the time I was there, I had a great time and met great people which I hope to see again soon. We went out to party or stayed at home to watch a movie after dinner which was by the way sick! When the waves right in front of our house were too bad Simon and Curley took us to Peniche which was far out so we didnt miss a day of surfing! (thanks for that ) Well I hope your all fine and I see you soon! I enjoyed my time! Best wishes from Germany David
